The new trend of smart water meter industry is coming

2024.08.05

In recent years, countries and regions around the world have been continuously improving the efficiency of water resource management, and installing smart water meters is one of the important keys. For example, some countries install smart water meters for elderly people living alone. If the reading of the smart water meter is lower than 0.01 cubic meters within 12 hours, the early warning information will be promptly fed back to the alarm center through the "One Network Management" platform, and the staff will visit the elderly immediately to understand the situation of the elderly living alone in real time.

Smart water meters will become a new trend in the industry

As the process of popularizing smart water meters in many countries and regions around the world accelerates, the "last mile" of smart water services has been opened up. Smart water services are one of the core construction points of smart cities. Through water services Internet of Things technology, cities can achieve more efficient, convenient and safer water resource management.

Smart water meters, the mainstream tool for water metering in the future, are a new type of water meter that integrates modern microelectronics technology, modern sensor technology, and intelligent remote transmission technology, and can measure water consumption, transmit data, and settle transactions. Among them, ultrasonic smart water meters are gradually becoming the industry's first choice due to their high-precision measurement advantages.

Working principle of ultrasonic smart water meter

Ultrasonic smart water meters are composed of metering pipe sections, ultrasonic flow sensors, signal processing circuits, algorithms, and flow displays. The built-in ultrasonic flow sensor converts electrical energy into ultrasonic mechanical energy and transmits it to the measured water body, then receives the reflected echo, and then processes the signal through the electronic circuit, converting it into an electrical signal representing the flow, which is then supplied to the display and integrator for calculation and display. In the IoT environment, ultrasonic smart water meters can also upload data to the cloud to achieve remote reading and processing, and jointly build a new trend of smart water services.

Ultrasonic smart water meter sensing technology

Ultrasonic sensors and metering pipe sections are the signal generating components of ultrasonic smart water meters. Their function is to provide accurate, stable and continuous ultrasonic signals for the water meter circuit. The ultrasonic sensor cooperates with the metering pipe section and the reflective structure to transmit and receive ultrasonic waves. The MCU measures the time difference generated by the ultrasonic pulse propagating downstream and upstream to accurately calculate the flow rate and flow.

As a professional solution product provider in the smart meter industry, ADW has developed an ultrasonic water meter flow meter that integrates ultrasonic sensors and metering pipe sections. The three specifications of DN15, DN20 and DN25 are widely used in ultrasonic smart water meters.

ADW independently develops a variety of flow sensors with high consistency and no need for screening and matching. It sells millions of units annually and matches the integrated injection-molded metering pipe section. It has the characteristics of small pressure loss, low starting flow velocity, and no moving parts in the pipe section, which effectively improves the measurement accuracy of water meters.

The built-in sensor of the ADW ultrasonic flow meter is made of drinking water grade raw materials, which complies with a number of international standards for the use of drinking water materials, meets household water needs, and effectively solves the hidden dangers of water safety.
